Getafe are willing to ‘negotiate hard’ with Tottenham for Sergio Reguilón and offer him a way out of Spurs in January.
That’s according to Super Deporte, who say Getafe ‘launches into the signing’ of the left-back and are ready to make their move for him.
Reguilón is out of the picture at Tottenham at this moment in time, with Ange Postecoglou not counting on him or using him at any point this season.
He ‘doesn’t count’ at the club and it’s been made clear that if he wants to play football, he should be leaving Tottenham.
That message was clear in the summer and has been played out since, with Reguilón failing to earn a single minute so far. His contract is set to end next summer and so January is now key to what happens next.
The defender has ‘absolute control’ of his future as even a loan deal at that point would be the end of his time at Tottenham. The possibility of him simply breaking his contract with Spurs is also on the table.
Reguilón certainly ‘does not frown’ upon the idea of leaving London and a return to Spain would be an interesting option for him. This is where José Bordalás’ Getafe come into play.
They are ‘willing to negotiate hard’ for the player, taking into account that he will only have six months on his contract by January.
They value him despite his current struggles, and difficulties in recent years, and so would be open to bringing him in. The ‘most viable option’ is a transfer, but a termination of his Tottenham contract is a distinct possibility. That would leave him available on a free transfer.
Reguilón has a decision to make, does he transfer in January and take Getafe in the summer, accepting Getafe as a ‘bridge team’ or a bet for the future or wait and be free in the summer.
