Barcelona’s Clément Lenglet has been on loan at Tottenham Hotspur since last summer.
The centre-back has been a regular for the north London club, making 29 appearances this season. Last month, Sport reported Tottenham have made a move to buy the 27-year-old from the La Liga side.
Friday’s Marca has a report on the future of Barca players who are currently out on loan elsewhere.
With regards to the Frenchman, it’s claimed he’s had a good spell at Tottenham so far but that isn’t enough for him to represent the Catalan club next season.
Even though he has a deal until 2026, the Spanish giants ‘don’t count’ on the ex-Sevilla man.
In addition to this, Xavi Hernández has the centre-back position covered and his side are also waiting for the arrival of Athletic Club Bilbao’s Íñigo Martínez on a free transfer.
It’s for these reasons the Blaugrana will ‘try to get Tottenham’ to buy Lenglet for a fee between €10m and €15m in the summer.
At the moment, Barcelona haven’t opened talks with Spurs, mainly due to the technical changes [Antonio Conte was sacked last month and Fabio Paratici has taken a leave of absence] at the Premier League side.
With Barcelona trying to convince Tottenham to buy Lenglet, they could soon hold talks with them for this specific operation.
Taking the figures mentioned, Spurs could seal a bargain deal for a experienced player like Lenglet.
