At the weekend, we covered multiple claims from Italy that Tottenham Hotspur star Hugo Lloris has ‘said no’ to Lazio after Maurizio Sarri refused to call him.
Late on Monday, Sky Italia reported the deal isn’t dead yet after the Serie A side reopened the talks to sign the 36-year-old.
This is backed up by Tuesday’s Gazzetta dello Sport, who then provide additional updates on the possibility of the Tottenham star joining Lazio.
Ivan Provedel is the first-choice goalkeeper at the Italian club. The report states the Biancocelesti ‘immediately’ need another stopper to provide cover and competition to Provedel and this is where Lloris would fit in.
It’s claimed Sarri’s side have started talks with the Spurs player’s agent to try to unblock the operation. The chances of the deal taking shape is slim but Lazio will make another attempt ‘today’ to convince him to join them.
Over at Corriere dello Sport, they state Lazio can take Lloris if he accepts a backup role.
They add the two parties have found an economic agreement and Tottenham have agreed to let go of him for free even though his deal expires in 2024.
Lazio will move on to other options if the Frenchman decides against joining them, with an answer expected today.
