Last month, claims from Ukraine reported FC LNZ Cherkasy’s concrete interest in Sunderland’s Jewison Bennette.

LNZ Cherkasy have already made firm progress in their efforts to sign the winger before the winter market in Ukraine closes on March 11th.

On Thursday, journalist Ihor Burbas stated LNZ Cherkasy will offer Sunderland €500,000 including bonuses for Bennette.

This is backed up by Sport.ua, who then report that the Costa Rica international ‘will soon’ join the Ukrainian club.

This has been echoed in the 20-year-old’s country by journalist Kevin Jiménez. He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide a short but an important update.

Jiménez claims the Black Cats man is ‘one step away’ from being the new LNZ Cherkasy player. He adds there are ‘details’ that separate him from the Ukrainian club.

The journalist hasn’t mentioned as to what those details are, but it’s likely to be sorted out soon.

Régis Le Bris has handed only one appearance for Bennette this season and it was in the EFL Cup tie against Preston North End last August. His time at Sunderland will end soon barring any new twist in this case.
