Sabah report Trabzonspor have rejected a €15m bid from Sheffield United for their young goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.

There have been reports in the Turkish press in recent weeks which claimed the Blades see Cakir as a possible replacement for Dean Henderson. Owned by Manchester United, there’s uncertainty over where the young stopper will be next season, and it makes sense for the Yorkshire club to look at long term alternatives.

Other Premier League teams have also been linked with Cakir, including Liverpool, with the Reds likely seeing him as an investment they could later sell on for a profit.

It’s reported the Turkish Cup winners value their goalkeeper in the region of €20m, and they could be encouraged to sell him this summer if Sheffield United come in with an improved offer.

Trabzonspor need to sell some of their players to comply with the Turkish Football Federation’s spending limits and offloading Cakir could help them meet the required financial targets.

The 24 year old has been in fantastic form for Trabzonspor this season, making 43 appearances in all competitions.

Cakir’s contract with the Super Lig side will expire at the end of June 2024.
