This week, the Brazilian media was full of stories about Atlético Mineiro’s alleged chase for Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz.
The reason was a report from England which said the Galo had placed a bid to sign the centre-forward in January.
It turns out that as journalist Thiago Fernandes now comments on this story, he claims there’s actually no chance that the offer ever happened.
It’s said the Galo keep up with their interest, but haven’t been in talks with the Whites and are actually looking for alternatives in the market.
Muniz has played 566 minutes for Fulham this season, across 12 appearances. He’s only scored one goal, and that was in the EFL Cup.
That’s why the Whites wouldn’t mind selling him for a good offer, but Brazilian clubs are expected to struggle to match that price, even if there are other clubs trying to bring him back to his country.
