Southampton’s Paul Onuachu was on loan at Trabzonspor last season, where he managed 17 goals and four assists from 25 games.
Earlier this month, Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan revealed that the striker wants to continue at the club. He also stated his side are looking for another loan deal, while the Saints want to sell him for £15m.
On Friday, Doğan insisted Trabzonspor aren’t willing to meet Southampton’s demand and are putting pressure on them to lower the request for the 30-year-old. He also stated it could take some time for the Turkish club to try and get this deal over the line.
Saturday’s edition of Sabah indicates Trabzonspor seem to be losing patience in their pursuit of the Nigeria international.
Trabzonspor have intensified contacts to bolster their attack in the summer window, and the priority is to sign Onuachu. Club Brugge’s Roman Jaremčuk is another target on their list.
It’s claimed the Süper Lig side will ‘meet one last time’ with Southampton for Onuachu. If an agreement can’t be found between, Trabzonspor will walk away from this deal.
The frontman’s contract at St Mary’s lasts until 2026. Southampton may have to find a solution for Onuachu if Trabzonspor decide to move on from him.
