Real Betis will make an offer for Tottenham outcast Giovani Lo Celso ‘in the coming weeks’, and director Ramón Planes has already spoken to Spurs about a potential deal.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say Lo Celso was likely discussed in a meeting between the club’s hierarchy at their pre-season training camp in Germany.
The newspaper explains that CEO, Ramón Alarcón, and the new sports director, Ramón Planes travelled to Wolfsburg yesterday to link up with Manuel Pellegrini and his squad.
While there they held a meeting with their manager to discuss their transfer plans for the rest of this transfer window as they plan for next season.
Planes worked for Tottenham almost a decade ago and has ‘recently been in contact’ with his former side to inform them of ‘real intention to present an offer’ for Lo Celso ‘in the coming weeks’.
Any move for the Argentine would be a ‘rather complex operation’ but Betis are aiming to make him ‘one of the names’ that arrives in the month and a half that remains of the transfer window.
It is likely that he is ‘one of the many topics’ that was discussed at Tuesday’s meeting and then again, when Planes, Alarcón and Pellegrini took advantage of a day off for the squad to continue planning their roadmap.
Any deal for Lo Celso is going to involve a long, drawn-out negotiation but the intent is there, and Planes has already been in touch with Tottenham to make them aware of that fact.
