Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad want to sign Moussa Diaby from Aston Villa this summer and ‘will do everything possible’ to get him.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who back up reports from earlier today stating that Al-Ittihad wish to lure the Frenchman away from Villa Park.
That report, from Gazzetta dello Sport and journalist Gianluigi Longari, claimed that Al-Ittihad had turned their attention to Diaby as they look to continue building this summer.
The focus for Saudi Arabian clubs has been switched this summer, with it made clear they now plan to switch from targeting players coming to the ends of their careers to those in their prime instead.
Diaby would certainly fall into that category, and it was reported that he is considered a dream signing for the club.
Foot Mercato now back that up and report that Diaby is being ‘greatly courted’ by the Saudi Arabian club just a year after his arrival at Aston Villa.
They are ‘very interested’ in the forward and ‘will do everything possible’ to recruit the former PSG man in the coming weeks.
The big question is whether he or Aston Villa will give the potential interest any consideration given the player was a regular under Unai Emery last season and already turned down a move to Al-Nassr before heading to Villa Park.
It’s easy to assume they won’t be interested, but the potential money Saudi Arabian clubs can offer is always tempting and with several outlets now reporting Al-Ittihad’s desires, it’s a situation to keep an eye on.
