Sevilla are ‘well placed’ to sign Chelsea youngster David Datro Fofana, once the various parties have worked out an agreement to remove him from Union Berlin.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say that Sevilla are ‘working on’ a deal for the young striker and have ‘made progress’ in a deal for him.
Fofana is currently on loan at Union Berlin, having been sent out by Chelsea in the summer to get regular playing time and continue his development.
Things haven’t gone to plan on that front though, with the striker barely featuring this season and widely being considered as a transfer flop in Berlin.
A report over the weekend indicated that Sevilla were keen on a deal, with Fofana happy to end his current loan deal and then head to Spain for the remainder of the season instead.
MD pick up on that and explain the striker is one of the options ‘Sevilla is working on’. They’ve already opened talks with Chelsea about a move and ‘made progress in recruiting him’.
That would require an agreement being struck with Union Berlin, although they are currently reconsidering their option of breaking the loan deal as the striker has shown signs of life under new manager Nenad Bjelica.
Negotiations may be needed to convince them to let the Chelsea man go, but Sevilla are ‘well placed’ should the option become available.
