Juventus haven’t given up their attempts to sign Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez. A new offer from the Italian club has now emerged.
Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered how Juve found an opening to sign the keeper. They sensed the Birmingham club could now demand only €10m to sell him, having previously pushed for a €15m figure.
This gave hope to the Old Lady, who were relying on his entourage to somehow iron out an agreement. The player has appeared keen, even if he hasn’t formally asked for a transfer.
More developments have emerged and Aston Villa remain unmoved.
New offer made
Corriere dello Sport report that Juve already have an agreement over personal terms with the Argentine. They have agreed to pay €5m net per season on a three-year deal and the player seems happy with that.
It is an agreement with the Villans that is still missing. Juve’s latest stance about the financials was a base of €5m plus bonuses of €3m. This is higher than what was previously offered but not closer enough to Aston Villa’s demand.
Villa want €10m plus bonuses that will take the deal to €15m in total. That is why Juve’s latest approach has been rejected, but talks between the clubs are ongoing.
The Italian side remain patient and are in no rush. Martinez himself is focused on the World Cup and is happy to wait.
Patience may not work
As things stand, Aston Villa are under no pressure to sell their keeper. They are also not looking around for replacements for the 33-year-old, who hasn’t asked to leave either.
These are probably attempts from those around Martinez to create noise. He has no obvious reason to leave either. Juve aren’t playing in the Champions League and are handing him lower wages than what he earns now.
