Bayern Munich ‘want to start’ negotiations with Newcastle United for Kieran Trippier on Saturday as they look into a deal for the full-back.
That’s according to journalist Christian Falk, who reports that internal talks at the German club have led to a real effort to sign the 33-year-old.
Reports throughout today have linked Bayern with a surprise move for Trippier, who has been with Newcastle since a €14m move from Atletico Madrid in January 2022.
German media provided various coverage on the move from that point, explaining that it could be a straight up loan deal before then insisting that talks had been ongoing internally about a possible move and that Trippier had been offered around to various clubs.
The claims were backed up by reports in England, who also claimed that Bayern were keen on Trippier and potentially reuniting him with former Tottenham teammates Harry Kane and Eric Dier.
Falk now provides the latest update and says Bayern ‘want to start’ negotiations with Newcastle for Trippier on Saturday.
His information differs somewhat from what’s been reported earlier as he makes it clear Bayern actually want to talk to Newcastle about the potential move.
Either way, it seems the idea is very much a firm one for those in charge at the Allianz Arena and this surprise exit from Newcastle could be on the cards.
