Club want to sign forgotten Arsenal man – Gunners ‘open’ to negotiation, time at Emirates coming to an end

The Portuguese media today shares some interesting news on the future of Arsenal fullback Cédric Soares.

Following initial reports from Spain claiming that Villarreal are interested in the player, website ZeroZero shows up to ‘confirm’ the claims.

The outlet writes that Cédric’s time at Arsenal seems to be at the ‘end of the line’, as he’s ‘open to listening to bids’ for a January transfer.

Villarreal are said to be attentive to his situation with the Gunners and could make a bid very soon. Mikel Arteta’s side, meanwhile, are ‘open’ to negotiating a permanent exit.

Cédric has barely played for Arsenal this season, getting three minutes on the pitch in the EFL Cup match against Brentford and another 62 in the Champions League match against PSV this week.

That’s the main reason why his time at the Emirates could be coming to an end, and that’s the situation Villarreal want to take an advantage of in January to bolster Marcelino’s squad.

The Portuguese fullback spent the first half of the calendar year on loan at Fulham, and is now valued by Transferamrkt at €3m after failing to feature much for Arsenal during the first few months of the current campaign.
