Joao Félix has decided to leave Atlético de Madrid this summer and they would like to sell him to Aston Villa if they can.
That’s according to Sport, who report that while Barcelona are looking to get him back and that remains active in the background, Atlético would like him to leave for Aston Villa.
Félix returned from a loan spell at Barcelona this summer with the promise that they would do everything to get him back and while the efforts have cooled, contact between the two parties has not broken.
Both sporting director Deco and manager Hansi Flick believe that Félix can be an important player once again and that he is a market opportunity.
They’re not moving for now, though, and that’s led other suitors to try their luck. Aston Villa are currently attempting to secure a paid loan with a mandatory purchase option.
Félix is yet to ‘flinch’ and remains resolutely determined to join Barcelona, though, convinced that time is on his side. Thus, he’s not even looking at Aston Villa or anyone else.
That’s presumably frustrating Atlético, who are keen to get rid of him and would like to get a deal done with Monchi and co. Whether they’d accept the loan offer on the table isn’t mentioned but they at least keen on Aston Villa being in the mix so there is a deal there to be done with the Villans.
It’s the player who is unconvinced, wanting to join Barcelona and holding his nerve hoping that he gets that.
