Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw’s injury woes could see Manchester United look for a new left-back in the summer window.
Recent claims in the English press have stated the Red Devils have set their sights on Atlético Madrid’s Reinildo Mandava.
These claims have reached Spain, especially Mundo Deportivo, who look at the possibility of the 30-year-old joining Manchester United.
Reinildo missed the first three months of the season as he was recovering from a serious knee injury, and had to wait until this year to feature regularly.
The defender made 19 appearances in all competitions, with only seven league starts, and has fallen down the pecking order, both in the left-back and centre-back positions.
His deal lasts until 2025 and Mundo points out Manchester United could sign the 30-year-old for an ‘affordable price’ in the next window. That is unlikely to happen because the La Liga side ‘will not let’ Reinildo leave, even though he has lost prominence.
AS also relay claims made in the UK about Manchester United’s interest. Despite not having his best season, he continues to be an ‘important’ player for Los Rojiblancos and will certainly be part of their future.
Atlético are confident the Mozambique international can showcase his best qualities next season. AS say he’s valued at €12m and amid claims of interest from Manchester United, Reinildo is ‘not to be touched’.
