Galatasaray want to sign Manchester City defender Sergio Gomez in the January transfer window, on a loan deal until 2025.
That’s according to Turkish TV station A Haber, relayed by Gazete Vatan, who say the Spanish full back is ‘open to separation’ from Manchester City.
They explain that Galatasaray are likely to be active in the January transfer window as they’ve set a target of winning the Europa League and so need to strengthen the squad.
Coach Okan Buruk has asked for signings and those in charge want to give him what he wants and if a deal for defender Angelino cannot be done, they will turn their attention to Manchester City’s Sergio Gomez.
He joined the treble winners on a permanent basis from Anderlecht last summer but has barely featured, with just six appearances and 162 minutes in all competitions this season and 24 appearances but just 971 minutes last season.
He is open to leaving Manchester City as a result to get more playing time and improve himself and Galatasaray ‘will start making attempts’ if they can’t get Angelino.
Their idea is to loan the defender for one-and-a-half years, so presumably until the summer of 2025.
Whether City would be willing to sanction such a deal isn’t mentioned but that’s the offer the Turkish side will make, nonetheless.
