Celtic’s Rocco Vata has a contract expiring at the end this season and Bologna have come forward to take him away from Brendan Rodgers’ side.
On January 11th, we covered claims from Italy that the Serie A side could accelerate things soon for the 18-year-old. They are now set to face competition from another Italian club.
That’s according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who took to X to state that Como have taken the first step to sign the Celtic player.
He says Como have ‘started contacts’ with Rodgers’ side over a potential deal for the attacking midfielder.
Di Marzio adds the Serie B side are aiming to ‘immediately close’ the deal for the Republic of Ireland U21 international. This may please Celtic as it gives them an opportunity to earn a fee in January, rather than letting him leave for free after this season.
Gianluca Di Marzio has provided additional information on his website about Bologna. He says the Serie A side are showing interest in the Celtic youngster and their aim is to secure the deal now, for him to join them on a free transfer next summer.
It’s not mentioned whether Vata is open to leaving Celtic for Como in the winter market.
