Sevilla ‘want to fish’ at Manchester United in the summer and are eyeing up Victor Lindelof, but a deal seems hard to get done.
Vamos Mi Sevilla cover the player today, explaining that Sevilla director of football Victor Orta is looking for low-cost options to strengthen his squad this summer.
He’s focusing on players who will be out of contract or in the final year of their contracts as he needs to cut corners at the club and reduce costs.
Lindelof could therefore be an option as he is entering the final year of his deal with Manchester United, who would ‘not pose many problems’ in terms of a departure.
The belief is that any operation could fall within Sevilla’s economic parameters and help them reinforce a weak area of the team, despite the Swedish international currently being valued at around €18m.
That, though, seems to be a belief that’s not particularly founded in any reality. Sevilla’s financial problems are well known, and a report earlier today indicated that they can’t even afford the €15m to sign Boubakary Soumare from Leicester on a permanent basis.
€18m or thereabouts would be even more difficult for Lindelof and that’s before even factoring in his wages, which are high and what Manchester United won’t be helping with either.
Thus, a deal seems unlikely at this point and perhaps Lindelof is simply on a list being looked at by Orta rather than a serious target at this point.
