Tottenham youngster Bryan Gil remains a target for Valencia, with Gennaro Gattuso keen to reunite the ‘love story’ started last season.
That’s according to Cadena SER, who say Valencia ‘have kept a close eye’ on the winger after his loan spell with the Spanish side in the second half of last year.
They explain that the forward started a love story with the club in that spell and both Gil and Valencia were keen to continue it in the summer. Indeed, Gil made it his ‘express wish’.
However, Tottenham refused to let him go and so the Spaniard remained in London as a part of Antonio Conte’s squad.
The Italian has ‘sidelined’ the player, though, offering him just 74 minutes of action thus far, something which has led to a window ‘opening’ for Valencia to get him again as Gil wants more regular playing time.
Valencia and Gil are happy to do a deal but know that ‘everything still depends on Tottenham’ and their willingness to arrange a transfer.
Experience has taught the La Liga side that negotiations with the Premier League side ‘are not easy’, hence the prudence of the player and the Spanish club.
They would prefer to move much earlier but ‘the time will be set by Spurs’ again, as it was last January when they arranged Gil’s loan deal at the last minute.
Tottenham’s hesitancy, though, is seen as a ‘stumbling block’ by Valencia as they know that there are other teams in Spain trying to secure the forward’s signature.
One advantage Valencia hold over the competition is the fact that they had Gil last season and he enjoyed his time at the club so much; an experience which led him to decide to join again in the summer.
That is something they can play on but the third chapter of the Valencia-Gil ‘soap opera’ will only begin when Tottenham ‘open the door’ for him to depart.
