Barcelona appointed Ronald Koeman as their new manager earlier this week, as the club works through another crisis period.

On August 19th, Sport reported the Dutch coach’s arrival has not changed the La Liga side’s desire to sign Manchester City’s Eric García.

It was also stated the Catalan club hope to advance negotiations for the centre-back’s signing this week.

Koeman’s new club have submitted an offer for the 19-year-old, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Spain U21 international’s contract with the Citizens expires in 2021 and he’s already decided not to sign a new deal at the Etihad. Therefore, the Blaugrana don’t want to pay a lot of money for the teenager.

Barca have tabled a proposal they feel is appropriate for the defender, which is about €10m.

The Spanish giants are now waiting for a response from City, and if the Premier League side turn down their offer, they will wait until the end of this window to sign García.

Should they fail to sign the central defender this window, Mundo state Barcelona will wait until January to sign García for ‘very little money’ or take him on a free transfer next summer.

García has given his approval to return to his former club and this is Barca’s ‘most favourable asset’.

Koeman and his new club now have to wait for City’s response after tabling a €10m bid.
