Thursday saw reports from the Netherlands that Rene Hake is set to move to Manchester United and become part of Erik ten Hag’s coaching team.
It was explained that the Go Ahead Eagles coach has a clause in his contract which will make the move possible, and the Eredivisie side are expected to receive a few hundred thousand Euros.
Despite Hake and Go Ahead Eagles finishing a very respectable ninth last season, the move to Old Trafford is seen as something which can’t be refused even as an assistant.
NOS now report, according to their own sources, that Hake is expected to soon announce his departure from the Dutch club.
However, Go Ahead Eagles are yet to hear from Manchester United. They’re aware the move is likely happening, but are ‘waiting for an email’ from the Premier League club to confirm they’re paying the coach’s clause.
It’s unclear what the delay is, and there’s no suggestion of any issue which could stop the move.
NOS add that Manchester United are still working to secure Ruud van Nistelrooy as another assistant coach.
