Eintracht Frankfurt are ‘on the verge’ of striking an agreement with Leeds United for defender Rasmus Kristensen, with a loan deal the ‘most realistic option’ for him.

That’s according to Frankfurter Rundschau, who report that the German side are targeting the full-back to fix a weak point in the current squad.

The right-back area of the team is a problem one for Frankfurt at this moment in time, with Aurelio Buta having been used in that position but to little success.

That’s why they are targeting a move for Kristensen, who has returned to Leeds this summer from a loan spell at Roma but wants to leave Elland Road again.

He finds the offer from Frankfurt an interesting one and is ‘clearly leaning’ towards them at this moment in time, particularly as they can offer Europa League football.

Thus, the German side are now in ‘intensive contact’ with his agency and Leeds, although the latter’s current €10m asking price is a problem. That’s a lot of money as far as Frankfurt are concerned, too much and ‘not acceptable’.

Therefore, the option of a loan deal is currently the ‘most realistic option’, and Frankfurt would be open to including a purchase option in the contract.

That is seen as a ‘clever solution’ to the matter as if Kristensen impresses they’ll have the option of making it permanent for a ‘reasonable price’. That latter part suggests they still intend to talk Leeds down from their current asking price either way.

How much they want to bring them down isn’t mentioned but talks are ongoing, and the defender appears to have his sights set on moving to Germany.
