VfB Stuttgart are relying on ‘softening tactics’ to try and convince Brighton and Hove Albion into selling Deniz Undav.
That’s according to BILD, who cover the German club’s response today after claims that they’re being stonewalled by Brighton over the German striker.
Undav spent last season on loan with Stuttgart and enjoyed great success at the club, forming a deadly partnership with Serhou Guirassy and helping the club to qualify for the Champions League.
He’s keen to go back permanently this summmer, and Stuttgart are willing to pay for him, but have found the round blocked by Brighton.
A report yesterday explained that after Stuttgart had seen their attempt to use a purchase clause blocked by Brighton, the German club’s attempts to get negotiations have been met with stony silence by the Seagulls.
They’re seemingly unwilling to even give Stuttgart a hint of an opportunity at this moment in time, either to increase the pressure and force them to pay over the odds or because new manager Fabian Hürzeler has made it clear he wants the player.
BILD now explains that Stuttgart’s response to this has been to use ‘softening tactics’ in the hope of forcing the deal through.
They’ve already taken precautions by signing another striker, Ermedin Demirovic, a signing made to cover their backs and also send a message to Brighton that they already have a new striker and aren’t desperate.
Undav is also playing his part, spending his entire summer holiday in the Stuttgart region and regularly showing up at the club to ‘send a message’ to Brighton.
That was why he was photographed at training with his former teammates on Sunday filmed a new episode of “Find the pro” with his friend and Youtubers Diyar on the Stuttgart training ground.
Ever Demirovic has been involved, publically making it clear he’d like to play with Undav and there’ll be no issue there if he joins. Again, another sign to Brighton that the deal is there, ready to be set up and everyone wants it. Whether they respond remains to be seen.
