Fenerbahce are continuing talks with Manchester United over a potential deadline day deal for midfielder Scott McTominay.

That’s according to Takvim, who say the Turkish side want to loan the Scotland international and are trying to make a move happen.

The Turkish side are desperate to add a number six to their squad before the end of the Turkish transfer window, which closes this evening.

They are scouring Europe and being linked with numerous players across the continent as they look to get the player they want.

That has apparently led them to Manchester United, with Takvim reporting that the Turkish side are looking to take advantage of the ‘good relations’ built up during the deal for Altay Bayindir this summer.

Fenerbahce want to loan the midfielder until the end of the season, valuing the fact he can play as both a defensive midfielder and a central midfielder.

He would be an ideal reinforcement and the two clubs are ‘in talks’ about a potential deal before the window slams shut this evening.

There’s no mention of Manchester United’s thoughts on the matter or even if they’ll sanction the deal, which would suggest they won’t.

It would make very little sense for them given their problems in midfield and Erik ten Hag’s need for as broad a squad as possible given they’re back in the Champions League this season.

Given McTominay has barely featured, though, with just seven minutes to date in the league, perhaps that’s why Fenerbahce believe a deal is there to be done.
