Following PSV’s 1-0 win over Sparta Rotterdam last weekend, Ruud van Nistelrooy publicly reiterated his desire to buy Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite. The manager had earlier expressed his wish to have the centre-back at his disposal next season.
The Toffees allowed the defender to join the Eredivisie side on a season long-loan deal last summer.
Former PSV manager Aad de Mos has told Eindhovens Dagblad, relayed by FCUpdate.nl, the Dutch club would have to make a decision on the Everton owned player in the summer.
“For me, the big problems are with Branthwaite, whether or not he stays. This also applies to Fábio Silva [on loan at PSV from Wolves]. I think he’s an ideal striker, who can grow,” he said.
The 20-year-old defender has managed four goals and an assist from 34 appearances this season. He has impressed with his performances for Van Nistelrooy’s side.
On Monday, ED journalist Rik Elfrink stated Sean Dyche’s side would ask for a fee between €10m and €15m for the Everton man. He had also stated this would be a big investment for a club like PSV.
De Mos has explained why he wouldn’t hesitate to buy the England 20 international from Everton.
“You don’t buy anyone in the dark, you know what you have in him. I think he can only double his value. If you look at the market and you see what Bassey [Ajax paid €23m] cost. If you can get it for the mentioned price, I wouldn’t hesitate,” De Mos explained.
