PSV Eindhoven are actively trying to sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton on a permanent basis, but those attempts are yet to lead to a ‘breakthrough’.
That’s according to Tubantia, who say so far Everton are yet to show any willingness to sell the defender to their Dutch counterparts.
Branthwaite has been on loan at PSV since the summer, when he reunited with Marcel Brands, the man who signed for him Everton, in a loan deal until the end of the season.
After a slow start he has established himself in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side, putting in a series of impressive performances that have convinced the club to try and sign him on a permanent basis in the summer.
A report yesterday insisted those talks are already underway and PSV ‘still hope’ to reach an agreement with Everton at some point.
Tubantia back that up, stating that the Dutch club are ‘trying to buy him’ this summer and their desire is something that ‘became clear earlier’ this season.
However, their attempts have seemingly hit a brick wall and ‘not yet led to the breakthrough’ they are looking for.
There is still plenty of time for that to change, of course, with the summer transfer window a long way away and talks presumably ongoing between now and then.
It also depends on whether Everton are a Premier League team or not, with that very much in their air and sure to play a huge part in their transfer decisions moving forwards.
On the face of it, though, Branthwaite appears to both be an ideal Sean Dyche player and replacement for Yerry Mina, and we’re sure the Toffees manager will want his say on any potential sale to PSV in the coming months.
