Spanish side Sevilla recently asked Arsenal about a loan deal for defender Jakub Kiwior but were quickly rejected by the Gunners.
That’s according to Vamos Mi Sevilla, who say Victor Orta and co were not as successful as they had been in getting Albert Sambi Lokonga from the Emirates.
The website explains that Sevilla have already closed a loan deal for Lokonga, who is set to spend next season at the club.
That was done a while ago but had been delayed as they needed to negotiate Arsenal away from wanting a mandatory purchase clause to be included in the deal, which they’ve now done.
That was aided by the fact that relations between the two clubs are very good, and Sevilla used this to try their luck when it came to Kiwior too.
He is also looking for a way out of the Emirates this summer and, with the imminent arrival of Riccardo Calafiori, appears likely to be granted it soon.
So, Sevilla used the negotiations for Lokonga, and the contacts they’d been having with Arsenal, to ask about the Poland international and the potential of taking him on loan as well.
This idea, though, was swiftly rejected by Arsenal, who want to sell the defender once they’ve done a deal for Calafiori.
They didn’t even entertain the idea of loaning the defender out, intending instead to get a significant amount for him as there’s no shortage of suitors this summer.
Thus, Sevilla’s ambitious, some might say cheeky, attempt to get him as well as Lokonga was rejected out of hand.
