There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Galatasaray have joined the race to sign Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

Only this week there were reports that Gala’s local rivals Fenerbahce were also showing interest in the Croatia international.

Gs Gazete today report on the future of Kovacic at Manchester City and they say the Premier League champions are looking to offload the player this summer. Galatasaray are said to have opened official talks to sign the central midfielder as they look to bring in a No.8 in this window.

However, the Turkish side want the Croatian to lower his demands as it’s reported he wants a 3 year contract with a salary of £4m a season. The Turkish media outlet also say the Premier League side are demanding a transfer fee of €25m.

Earlier this week we covered reports from Turkey that Fenerbahce sporting director Mario Branco was looking to travel to England to hold talks with the player. Like their Istanbul rivals, the Yellow Canaries are also looking to bring in a central midfielder.

Kovacic made 46 appearances for City last season, scoring 3 goals. He’s contracted to the club until June 2027.
