Romelu Lukaku struggled to impress in his second spell with Chelsea last term. The west London club invested big in bringing the striker back to the club in 2021, but he failed to adapt to Thomas Tuchel’s methods at Stamford Bridge.

This saw the 29-year-old rejoin Inter Milan on a loan deal in the last transfer window.

The Chelsea owned player’s return to the San Siro has not been a success so far. He has a goal and an assist from three matches and last featured for the Serie A side in August.

The Belgium international has been sidelined with an injury and will undergo new tests next week to find out whether he can at least make it to the bench to face Fiorentina on October 22nd.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who also provide an update about his future with Inter beyond this term.

If it is up to the Blues owned player, he will stay at the San Siro ‘for life’. Simone Inzaghi’s side, for their part, are waiting to evaluate the ex-Everton man on the pitch.

Chelsea and Inter have a good relationship, and at the end of this season, there will be ‘new contacts to find a solution’ for Lukaku’s future.

The Belgian didn’t have a great relationship with Tuchel. Chelsea parted ways with the German last month and appointed Graham Potter as his successor. It needs to seen whether Potter will consider including Lukaku in his plans next season.
