Serie A side AS Roma are interested in keeping Diego Llorente at the club, the Italian media says.
Newspaper Corriere Dello Sport today claims that the Giallorossi are satisfied with the spell the Leeds United player had, and could now try to hold him at the club.
The agreement between Roma and the Whites included a €18m buying option, but according to the report, that won’t be spent by the Serie A side.
It’s claimed that the Giallorossi will only buy Llorente ‘under certain conditions’, so Leeds will need to give a discount to make that sale possible.
It’s obviously mentioned that the Whites ended up getting relegated to the Championship this season, and that undoubtedly gives Roma a bigger chance of signing him for a lower price.
Llorente only made 11 appearances for Roma since arriving from Leeds, but that was apparently enough to show the club he deserves a spot there next season.
The defender is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €12m, and his contract with the Elland Road side runs until 2026, in case they choose to hold onto him in England’s second-tier.
