ESPN Brasil today features an interview with former midfielder Geovanni.

The 40-year-old, who’s been retired for a few years, had some good stories to tell about his time in the Premier League, where he played for Manchester City and Hull City.

Regarding his move to the Tigers back in 2008, Geovanni talked about the reasons which made him leave Manchester City.

“I only spent one season at City. I started very well, I scored two goals in the first games, but, I don’t know why, from one moment to the next I didn’t play any longer,” Geovanni told ESPN.

“I really respect Eriksson for taking me, but I was surprised by the decision of him taking me out of the team as the top scorer. I didn’t have as many opportunities after that, and then I agreed with Hull.”

Now he claims that many Hull City fans have been asking for his return on social media, but he wouldn’t be able to play given his age. Still, he shows some big feelings for the Tigers after the couple of years he spent there.

“At Hull, I had the opportunity to show my football, so much so that the fans have a huge affection for me until today. They still ask me to come back, but, at 40, it is difficult (laughs). The head even goes, but the body doesn’t follow.

“There’s no way to return to play, despite the will. It’s a club that is in my heart. I returned to the stadium in 2014 and got honoured. They even put my name on the club’s all time lineup!”

Geovanni signed for Hull City on a free move in 2008, and made 65 appearances in his two seasons at the club. He left the Tigers in 2010, following their relegation to the Championship.

The midfielder then played for San Jose Earthquakes in the United States and then moved back to Brazil, where he featured for Vitória, América-MG and Bragantino.

He retired in 2013.
