Earlier today, we’ve seen Goal Brasil claiming that Porto turned down Tottenham Hotspur’s attempt for the signing of Pepê.
The outlet did not say how much Spurs put on the table, and only claimed that the Dragons’ didn’t like the presented formula.
It turns out that more details are brought by Portuguese newspaper A Bola, who confirms Porto’s rejection to Tottenham’s bid.
It’s claimed that Tottenham placed a bid worth €45m up front, plus €15m in performance bonuses.
Porto reportedly promptly rejected that, as they have no intention of letting Pepê go, given the importance he has for manager Sérgio Conceição.
A Bola says Porto were actually ‘blunt’ in their response, claiming that the Brazilian will only leave them this summer in case his €75m release clause is triggered.
The outlet recalls that Arsenal went through something similar, as they had also shown interested and ended up getting blocked by the Dragons’ demands.
In that same situation, Tottenham now need to make a much bigger offer, or they better give up on the winger as well.
