Belgian side Standard Liège are interested in Reading forward Yakou Méïté and Rotherham United’s Chiedoze Ogbene as they seek a right-winger this summer.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who says the Championship pair are on Liège’s list of targets for the end of the season.
He reports that Standard want to strengthen in ‘various offensive sectors’ at the end of the season and the right-wing spot is one of them.
They are looking at Rotherham’s Ogbene, who has seven goals and three assists in 31 games for the Millers in the league this season, as he is available on a free at the end of the campaign.
It’s a similar story with Méïté, whose contract at Reading is also due to expire in the summer and who has had a decent campaign himself, with three goals and three assists in 24 games in the league.
Tavolieri says he is ‘having a blast’ at Reading this season and that has alerted Standard, who have added him to their list ‘in addition to the interest’ in Rotherham’s Ogbene.
Whether one is more favoured than the other isn’t made clear, just that they are both on a list of targets and names to keep an eye on ahead of Standard wanting to improve their forward line this summer.
