Fotomac claim Fenerbahce will target Liverpool’s Joel Matip if Rangers target Martin Skrtel decides to leave the club.
According to Fotomac, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard remains interested in signing Skrtel as he looks to bolster his defensive options. It’s claimed if the Slovakia international does head to Ibrox then the Istanbul club will target Liverpool defender Matip.
The former Cameroon international has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield, with Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk forming a good partnership this season.
It’s claimed Fenerbahce sporting director Damien Comolli is now weighing up the situation and the Frenchman is hoping his relationship with Liverpool will help in landing Matip.
Fenerbahce are now reportedly preparing a loan bid for the 27 year old, with possible talks in the coming weeks.
However, there have been other reports in the Turkish media that Fenerbahce are looking to hold talks with Skrtel following his links with Rangers. The Super Lig club want to extend his contract by two years, which could finally kill the rumour.
