Liverpool will need at least €37.5m if they wish to sign Ibrahim Sangaré from PSV Eindhoven this summer, with the Dutch side determined to see his release clause matched.
That’s according to Eindhovens Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink, who says PSV have taken a simple stance when it comes to the midfielder in this window.
Liverpool are desperately scouring the market for a new defensive midfielder after letting Fabinho and Jordan Henderson move to Saudi Arabia and releasing James Milner on a free transfer.
They had targeted both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia but have seemingly been beaten to the signature of both players by Chelsea, leaving them now looking at alternative options to fill the role.
Sangaré is the latest name to be linked, having long been rumoured to be a target for Premier League clubs after several years of impressing in the Netherlands.
PSV are open to selling him for the right price but are insistent that they get as much as possible for him, with Elfrink explaining their stance towards Liverpool and other suitors.
“PSV takes a simple position with Sangaré,” he wrote on Twitter.
“Those who want him must currently simply tap the clause amount of €37m. And nothing else. Such an amount should not be a problem for large clubs. Waiting to see who picks up.”
