Marseille have taken the first steps towards a potential deal for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah this summer as they look closely at the English market.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report that Marseille director of football Pablo Longoria’s ideas seem to have taken on an ‘English accent’ after the arrival of Roberto De Zerbi and that’s now seem him turn his attention to Arsenal.
The belief is that De Zerbi has a good grasp of potential signings from the Premier League and that’s why players such as Mason Greenwood are being targeted.
Nketiah can now be added to the list, with it explained Marseille are ‘studying the possibility’ of signing the striker this summer.
He is open to a new challenge after barely featuring in Mikel Arteta’s squad, playing the role of ‘luxury joker’ in the team and nothing more.
According to FM’s information, the first discussions have already begun between the player and the French side and Nketiah has made it clear he is interested in the move if it is possible.
The transfer is still in the early stages but the first contacts between the various parties have been positive.
Marseille have a good memory of signing players from Arsenal after getting Mattéo Guendouzi in 2022 and they didn’t regret that deal and the suggestion is that they wouldn’t regret a deal for Nketiah either.
