Boca Juniors have been left sweating as Chelsea are yet to send the transfer documents for defender Aaron Anselmino, something which could affect their squad planning for the Copa Sudamericana.
TyC Sports explain that while the defender was recently sold to Chelsea, he remains on the club’s list for the tournament.
They’ve registered him in the squad with the authorities but depending on when Chelsea send through their transfer documents, he will have to be registered again.
Boca have avoided having to make Anselmino one of five changes they’ve presented to the Argentine Football Association for the round of 16 clash with Cruzeiro in the Copa Sudamericana as Anselmino is still technically their player.
That’s because Chelsea are yet to send through the paperwork on their deal for him, having bought the defender but agreed to loan him back for a season.
That means he is still a Boca player but when Chelsea do send the paperwork, the Argentine club may be left with something of a dilemma.
If Chelsea finally do comply with the bureaucratic process and register the paperwork, which gives them until the end of the month anyway, then Anselmino will no longer be registered as a Boca player, and they will have re-register him as one of their changes to the squad.
That’ll be a problem if they reach the quarterfinals as the number of changes to the squad drops to three and he’ll have to be one of those.
