Despite the recent reports from the Turkish media regarding Besiktas’ chase for Southampton defender Lyanco, it now seems the player could actually join another side in Istanbul.
According to a ‘last bomb’ coming from Fanatik, Fenerbahce recently ‘took action’ for the signing and now lead the race.
It’s said the club now stand very close to an agreement with Southampton, and an official announcement is expected as soon as they finish sorting the final details.
Fenerbahce are about to lose Attila Szalai to Union Berlin, and seem to have rushed for Lyanco, despite the talks there were for his move for Besiktas.
The Brazilian defender has been heavily linked to a departure from Saints in the past few months, with the relegation to the Championship just being a final push for his exit.
Reports from Turkey had claimed that Besiktas first offered €4m for the transfer, then raised their bid, while the Saints’ request was of €8m.
Now it seems like Fernerbahce managed to outbid their rivals, even though we’re still to see how much they’ve put on the table.
