A week ago, Tipsbladet reported FC Copenhagen had agreed a deal with Brentford to sign Mathias Jørgensen this summer.

It was also said they have reached an agreement with the centre-back for a two-year deal and the transfer will go through once the Bees secure his replacement.

A fresh report from Tipsbladet says the Danish club will miss out on the Brentford player.

Anderlecht have entered the race and the 34-year-old has agreed to join them. He had less than a year left on his deal at the Premier League side but will leave them as a free agent in this window.

It’s claimed Jørgensen has ‘received all his money’ from Thomas Frank’s side, being paid for the last year of his contract.

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri also claims the defender will join the Jupiler Pro League side in this window.

Anderlecht sporting director Jesper Fredberg has been keen on signing his compatriot. His side are now set to be successful in hijacking Copenhagen’s deal for the Brentford man.

Jørgensen will sign a one-year deal, with an option for another year. Tavolieri says he has already travelled to Belgium to carry out the medical tests. The official announcement should be on the way.
