Serie A side Roma could soon make an attempt to sign Manchester City defender Nathan Aké, according to reports from the Italian media.

Calcio Mercato today writes that the 26-year-old is one of the ‘many profiles’ who the Giallorossi have been following this summer.

It’s claimed that Aké has drawn attention from Roma director Tiago Pinto, and the official now ‘studies the formula’ to land the player.

The website says Roma will try to land the defender on a loan deal with a potential buying option for next summer.

Signed from Bournemouth in a €45.3m deal in the summer of 2020, Aké couldn’t have a lot of playing time in his first season for Manchester City. Struggling with injures, the defender was only able to make 13 appearances for his new club.

Now getting back into shape, Aké even got action in the Netherlands’ Euro 2020 debut against Ukraine.

With the Premier League champions spending that much on the signing, it looks unlikely they’d loan him out after just one season. However, if Pep Guardiola wants him to have more minutes, perhaps Roma would be a good solution.
