At the rate the Georginio Wijnaldum situation is going at Liverpool, there is little hope left of the Dutchman signing a new contract at Anfield.

There’s a feeling that if he really wanted to, he would have done so by now, and with clubs willing to offer him a good contract and a new adventure, the 30-year-old, who has won it all under Jürgen Klopp, looks set to head elsewhere in the summer.

Having only played in the Netherlands and England so far, Wijnaldum’s next move would likely be to Spain, Italy or Germany, where numerous sides would gladly welcome him with open arms.

Barcelona under Ronald Koeman were well reported suitors for a while, but we’ve now got Inter in Serie A lurking in the shadows.

This isn’t news per se, since it’s already been discussed in the past, but Sport Italia journalist Gianluigi Longari brings his update on the situation on Tuesday.

Using social media to report the news, he explained there was a ‘strong interest’ from the Italians, bringing Antonio Conte ‘quality and quantity’ in midfield without a big financial investment.

It’s also said it would be ‘difficult’ for the player to renew at Anfield, but that was already fairly obvious to begin with, considering the situation, and that the manager would ‘welcome him’ at San Siro.
