Real Betis are still working on getting players out of their squad before finalising a deal for Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca.
That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who cover the player today and Betis’ efforts to reduce their wage bill to make room for the Spaniard in Manuel Pellegrini’s squad.
The newspaper explains that Betis are focusing on the ‘exit operation’ at this moment in time so they can then move on to finalising any additions to the team.
Several players have been given permission to leave or will have their contracts terminated to free up space in the wage bill and give Betis the room they need to add the players they’ve targeted.
Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca is one of three who ‘await a call’ to join the Spanish squad for pre-season.
While other deals, such as ones for Hector Bellerin and Ayoze Perez have already been wrapped up, he is ‘waiting for the green light’ on his transfer deal.
He has a clause in his contract with Leeds that allows him to leave on loan if the buying club takes up his wages, but Betis want a loan deal with a purchase option included and are negotiating that with those in charge at Elland Road.
In the meantime, Roca has returned to pre-season training with Leeds in the meantime but is very much on the exit ramp, waiting for Betis to make space in their squad and strike a deal with the Whites.
