Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of talk of Newcastle United being interested in Federico Chiesa, and how the player would welcome the move to St James’ Park.
After all, he has been pushed to one side somewhat at Juventus, since he doesn’t really fit in Max Allegri’s preferred 3-5-2 formation, which has led to talk of a possible exit.
Corriere dello Sport cover the Italy international’s future briefly, and name Newcastle as one of the interested parties.
They, alongside Liverpool, have ‘studied the dossier’ from afar, but this has yet to ‘give birth to offers’ from either the Magpies or the Reds.
With a price set at €55m, he would be rather expensive, and should any bids arrive, they will be considered.
However, until then, he remains at the disposition of Allegri, and Chiesa could ‘even think of relaunching’ his career at Juventus, perhaps as a ‘pure second striker’, closer to the goal, rather than coming in from the right, which is his current favourite role.
He doesn’t get to do that in the 3-5-2, and therefore a more central role could allow him to extend his time at Juventus if Newcastle don’t show up with an offer.
