Ajax are growing concerned as they wait on the paperwork to seal a deal for Southampton’s Kamaldeen Sulemana.
That’s according to Soccer News, who say the Dutch side are still waiting for a final agreement to be signed for the Southampton forward.
The transfer window for the Netherland closed last night, bringing an end to a busy summer for the Dutch champions.
They’ve been forced to rebuild after a disappointing few years, with director of football Alex Kroes keen to completely reshape the squad.
Ten players departed for a sum of €57m, including a late sale of Steven Bergwijn, who has joined Al-Ittihad in a €21m deal.
Only three new players have been signed so far although reports yesterday indicated a deal had been done to sign Sulemana from Southampton before the window closed.
Soccer News now explain that he was the man chosen to replace Bergwijn, but the question is whether his arrival will be possible.
According to them, Ajax’s management are still waiting for a final agreement on the paperwork of the deal and that is ‘causing tension’.
They don’t explain what the problem is at this point, but it seems there’s no definitive agreement in place and the winger might not arrive from Southampton after all.
The big question is whether the paperwork was submitted in time before the deadline last night. De Telegraaf suggest it might not have been as it is ‘unclear’ whether Ajax managed to do so.
Thus the transfer remains in limbo, something which is causing plenty of tension in Amsterdam.
