Everton continue to be mentioned in the Argentine press, as the Toffees are currently being heavily linked with players from two big sides.

The first one is River Plate midfielder Santiago Sosa. Reports from the local press say the Toffees have already found a deal for his move, but his work permit has been an issue.

Now there’s also Adolfo Gaich, from San Lorenzo, who Everton reportedly became interested in after watching him featuring in the U20 World Cup.

Reports from Argentina said the Premier League side would be ready to trigger his US$15m release clause, but Olé comes up with a story saying things aren’t happening so quickly.

The newspaper claims that despite all the rumours in the past few days, San Lorenzo are still to have contact regarding the striker”s transfer.

Olé actually gathers some information which said that Bologna and Benfica would be along with Everton in the race for the 20-year-old.

It’s claimed that San Lorenzo know that some offers could be arriving in the next few weeks, especially because that’s when the European market will start to work more seriously.

Now if the competition really exists, perhaps Everton should trigger the release clause before some other side do it.
