Last week, we covered claims from Belgium that KRC Genk are keen on Celtic’s Oh Hyeon-gyu.
Indeed, the claims went a little further than that. It was stated the Celtic player had reached an agreement on personal terms with Genk, and that the Belgian side would like to close a deal for around €5m plus bonuses.
That saw some Celtic fans offering to drive the player to the airport, feeling that €5m would be a great fee to get for the 23-year-old.
Oh Hyeon-gyu played just over 600 minutes for Celtic in the Scottish Premiership last season, and a further 100 in the Champions League. He managed to score five goals, but the last of those came in December and Transfermakrt put his value at €1.8m.
That made the €5m seem really good for Brendan Rodgers’ side. However, perhaps those claims were a little hasty, or Genk are having second thoughts.
Monday’s edition of Het Belang van Limburg, which is local to the club, states Genk are ‘still negotiating’ with Celtic and therefore it would appear there’s no agreement yet.
Either the Belgian side don’t actually want to offer €5m… or Celtic are really pushing their luck and asking for more.
