Salernitana’s interest in Leeds United defender Leo Fuhr Hjelde continues to get some attention in the Italian media.
Today, it’s website Tutto Salernitana who features a story claiming the 19-year-old ‘could arrive’ at the club this summer.
It’s claimed that even though the Serie A club have plenty of defenders in the squad and first need to get rid of some of them, they have ‘targeted’ the Leeds youngster.
It’s highlighted that besides playing in the centre-back, Hjelde can also do a job on the left-back, and that’s something greatly appreciated by Salernitana.
For now, there’s no information on whether the Italian club have already opened talks to get the signing done.
The interest in Hjelde has been reported since June, when it was claimed that he can be sides from Leeds if the ‘right offer’ arrives at Elland Road.
The defender spent the last six months on loan at Rotherham, and that’s where he drew the interest from other clubs, especially because he only has five appearances for the Whites’ first team.
Hjelde has a contract with Leeds running until 2025, and is valued by Transfermarkt at €1.5m.
