In the past few months, we’ve seen some reports from Brazil claiming Grêmio were interested in the signing of Rodrigo Muniz from Fulham. The transfer was always seen as difficult, but there had been an effort to at least try it.
Now it turns out that the Brazilian club may actually have a reason to make a bigger chase for the striker.
It’s recently been reported that Luis Suarez could retire due to a knee problem. Now according to UOL, as Grêmio sort the situation with the Uruguayan striker, they also move for his potential replacement.
That’s where Muniz comes in. It’s said the Tricolor currently ‘staying in talks’ with the Fulham player.
UOL points out that Muniz’s arrival would be useful in both scenarios. Suarez could either retire or start playing less, and another striker would be needed either way.
The problem, however, is that the report claims there are other clubs who are interested in signing the Fulham striker.
Muniz spent the last season at Middlesbrough, where he had two goals in only 17 appearances. His contract with the Whites runs until 2026, with the option for an extra one.
