Earlier on Tuesday, we covered a claim from France that Chelsea had made an approach for one of Thomas Tuchel’s former players at Paris Saint-Germain.

RMC Sport reported the Blues had come forward to try and sign Marquinhos to bolster their defence, only for both the Ligue 1 side and the player to choose to ignore the approach, despite it potentially reaching €100m.

Well, going the other way, Foot Mercato claim Paris Saint-Germain wanted one of Stamford Bridge’s stars, and that was N’Golo Kanté.

The French website claim Mauricio Pochettino’s side ‘asked Chelsea what the conditions for a Kanté transfer were’.

Not only that, but Paris Saint-Germain had ‘started preliminary discussions’ with the midfielder ‘before the Blues categorically shut the door’.

It’s made clear that Chelsea ‘didn’t want to act on the Parisian demand’, and the feeling is that the London side will offer their player a new contract sooner rather than later instead.
