With Philippe Coutinho still seeming likely to leave Aston Villa this summer, a new potential destination now shows up for him.
According to South American journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, Saudi side Al-Duhail are interested in signing the 31-year-old.
The report claims the club are finalising the deal of Nicolas De La Cruz from River Plate, and already started moving to get Coutinho signed as well.
For now, there’s no information on how much Al-Duhail would be willing to pay Aston Villa for the transfer.
As Unai Emery’s side were defeated by Newcastle United 5-1 at the weekend, Coutinho was only brought in at the final minutes of the game.
Amid the rumours of his departure from Aston Villa this summer, recent reports have been claiming that he was even offered to Besiktas.
Negotiations were said to be on for his move to Turkey, even though he’d need to reduce his salary to agree a move to Istanbul.
Now since money is normally not a problem for Saudi clubs, perhaps Coutinho has a chance to keep wage level if he joins Al-Duhail.
